Ion Chromatography

For the separation and quantification of charged analytes in aqueous samples ion‑chromatography (IC) is the technique of choice. Normally used to determine ions at sub parts per million (ppm) levels, some modern IC instruments can detect down to the parts per trillion (ppt) range.

A number of popular ready to use eluants, concentrates and regenerants are available under the ROMIL-SpA Super Purity brand. Based on our Water SpA product and featuring specially selected high purity solutes, these provide the IC analyst with a consistent quality to ensure reproduciblity of results.

For instrument calibration a comprehensive range of ROMIL PrimAg® single ion reference solutions for IC are available as both ready‑to‑use calibration solutions and concentrates. Featuring ISO 17034 accreditation the matrices are matched to IC, targeting water for anions and very dilute nitric acid for cations.

A further advantage of IC is that the technique can detect multiple ions in a single run. Of course, multi‑ion reference solutions may be made up by the analyst from single component solutions.

However, the modern trend is to buy in multi‑ion reference solutions, saving valuable analytical skills for performing the actual analysis. These solutions are available with ISO 17034 accrediation either as stock catalogue products or as custom mixes. Both are available as ROMIL PrimAg® multi‑ion solutions; if a suitable stock item is not found then we welcome your enquiry for a mix for your specific application.
